The Basics

What is plate-loaded gym equipment?

Plate-loaded gym equipment is strength machinery loaded with free weight plates rather than a fixed, pin-selected weight stack.

Instead of choosing resistance with a pin, you add Olympic plates to the machine's weight horns. This lets you load heavier, train through a more natural strength curve, and feel a more direct connection to the resistance. Because there are no cables or pulleys to a weight stack, plate-loaded machines also tend to be more durable and lower maintenance in a busy commercial setting.

Granite designs every machine around a specific movement pattern, with adjustable resistance profiles, stainless steel handles and high-spec bearings.

  • Load heavier than most fixed weight stacks allow
  • A more natural strength curve through the movement
  • Durable, low-maintenance build for commercial use
  • Adjustable resistance profile on Granite machines

FAQs

Plate-Loaded Equipment Questions

Everything you need to know before equipping your facility with Granite plate-loaded machines.

What is plate-loaded gym equipment?

Plate-loaded gym equipment is strength machinery loaded with free weight plates rather than a fixed, pin-selected weight stack. You add Olympic plates to the machine's weight horns, which lets you load heavier and train through a more natural strength curve. Because there is no cable and pulley system to a stack, plate-loaded machines are typically more durable and lower maintenance in a commercial gym.

What are the benefits of plate-loaded machines over a weight stack?

Plate-loaded machines let you load heavier than many fixed stacks allow, follow a more natural resistance curve, and add or strip weight quickly. They also tend to be more robust and easier to maintain over time, which suits high-use commercial and serious home gyms.

Do you ship plate-loaded equipment to the US and worldwide?

Yes. Granite ships worldwide, with shipping quoted per machine to your delivery address. EU orders are generally delivered within 7 to 14 days and UK orders within 7 days, by kerbside delivery on DAP terms. For international orders, contact sales@granitegymequipment.com with your delivery address for a personalised shipping quote.

What are the lead times for plate-loaded machines?

In-stock machines are dispatched as soon as payment is cleared. Out-of-stock and pre-order items currently have a lead time of approximately 20 weeks. Pre-orders require a 50% deposit, with the balance due before dispatch. Email sales@granitegymequipment.com to confirm current availability.

Can I customise the machines for my gym?

Yes. Granite offers full customisation, including custom logos, branded weight plates, bespoke upholstery colours and gym flooring to match your brand. Contact the sales team for a customisation quote.

Are Granite machines suitable for commercial gyms?

Yes. Granite machines are engineered for commercial use and are on the floor of elite training facilities worldwide, including gyms used by IFBB athletes. They are built for continuous, high-intensity use with reinforced steel frames, stainless steel handles and high-spec bearings.

What warranty comes with Granite equipment?

Granite machines are covered by a structural frame warranty, with shorter cover on moving parts and upholstery. Any transit damage must be reported within 24 hours of delivery with photographic evidence. Full terms are on the Granite warranty page.
